Addition. Missing Addends, and 3D shapes

In this game the students put on 6 (which is what we are working on) and then one students takes off a few and the other friend covers their eyes and then tries to guess how many he/she took off.  A great game for missing addens.

5 in a Row for naming and describing 3D Shapes, I will try and find the blackline for this - love the versitality of this game. (found it!)

I ordered these from Scholastic with my points!  They are super great and the students really enjoy building with these.  So much better than play dough!  I think you can also buy them from Learning Reasource as well.

This is great and cute for One More and One Less.  Enjoy the download here.

In out game just keeps on going!  I just change it every 2 weeks to a new number.  This week it was 6!

These games below are some great games for your computers, I really enjoy the 3D shapes becasue they use the vocabulary that the students need to hear over and over again.  Click on the pictures to get to the game link.   And the last one is my Symbaloo, a great way to funnel your students to the right games.

100th day 2015

100th Day of School!!!
Our 100th day came and went very quickly - without snow to delay this day this year, it kind of snuck up on me!  So here are a few quick activities we did during math tub rotations.

We started the day counting 10 of 10 different snacks, giving each child a baggie of 100 items to eat for snack.

Then here is a brief overview of our Math tubs.

100th day crown

In 100 seconds, how many push ups, jumping jacks, squats, etc. can you do?

Highlighting all the 100's you can find in the search a number puzzle.

Find the bone on the 100th chart with the clue given in a minute.

Make something out of the numbers 100.

Stick 100 stickers.
This entire pack came from Teacher Pay teachers - sure made it easy!

December Madness (oops Fun I meant!)

Welcome to the Madness Fun!
I always start the month off with all of the ornaments we will make for our parents, so here is the first one - skill: patterns.  I just use a pipe cleaner and the tri colored beads, cut a little holly leave to put their initials on and tie a ribbon.

Here they are building a tree out of three different size craft sticks.  We paint them and then place them in order by size. (skill: order by size)  Then we decorate them with sequence from Michaels.

Snowman - Skill: following directions. :)  Using a tongue depressor, sticky back felt, wiggly eyes, and a felt nose.  Then I let the students make the mouth and dots on the front.

Reindeer ornament - Skill:  again following directions and counting out pieces.  Just using regular craft sticks.

Christmas tree count:  Just roll the die and place that many pom poms on the tree.

Stackum game - students roll the teen dice and place that a stacker on that number.  At the end of the game see which number had the most.

Counting on game:  Draw a card, count off from that number until the teacher ask you to stop and move a space.  This is just a blank board and blank cards that I just wrote numbers on - pretty simple to make. :)

Christmas stamps - students roll the die and stamp that number of stamps on their paper.

This station is making 5, the students are given 10 pieces, 5 of each color and they show different ways to make 5 and write the equation.

Ordinal - here is a game I made for ordinals, you can see what you do and it needs to be a teacher led station.

Grid game - just like last month.

War!  Highest number takes the cards.

Tangrams for my snack friends that finish early.

Roll and cover.  Students roll the number and cover that number on the number line.

Christmas stickers to make a pattern with.

A write the room that I plan on just leaving at the table and they can go through the cards and fill in the recording sheet.

And my final one for today is just a picture frame!  Enjoy!

Measurement and Subtraction

This is bowling - I just used toilet paper rolls and a tennis ball.  They roll, and count what they knock down, then they record their problem on this nice little sheet I found.

This little game came from Teachers Pay Teachers and it comes with both subtraction and addition boards.  I just ran two of each so they could play as a pair.

Here they simply roll and write a subtraction problem.  They have to remember to write the highest number first.  It is very simple to play, just roll, write and figure out the answer. And here is the addition one also.

These games are all on my symbalooHere is the link to this game, but all of these deal with subtraction in a different fun way.

Old Maid!  So they make a match and try not to get the old maid.  A great game for a group of four, just hard for the students to hold on to and it was hard for them to figure out the matches - but that will come with time!

Here is this little game that I found.  It is great for subtraction and it really makes the kids work it out on the board.
And here is a great game from Heidi Song.  I have the students draw a number card and black out that many teeth, then they write the math sentence and figure out the answer.
Guess the missing number.  Free from this lady and it is awesome.  I have the students play in a pair and just hold up the card, if the friend guesses the write number, they keep the card!
Race to the top that I have shown in previous post.

War just with addition flash cards.

This is the app counting race.  It is for the ipod and ipad.  You can do addition, subtraction or just numbers.

U fix it, is a great little game for measurement.  Your students will love it. They have a ruler to measure and then cut the wood the correct size or it won't fit and fix the window or door.  It takes a little explaining, but once the students catch on, they really enjoy it.
